Cursos de verano organizados por el ArtEZ Institute of the Arts

Nos llega esta información desde Holanda

Dear Student, Teacher, Colleague,

We are proud to announce the launch of our new summer school program: The Summer Sessions.

The Summer Sessions is a new mobile summer school developed by Graphic Design Arnhem at ArtEZ Institute of Arts.

The main emphasis of the Summer Sessions is to introduce participants to the ideas and concepts behind contemporary graphic design research, speculative graphic design and design critique, as well as developing personal methodologies in how to integrate and apply these concepts into one’s own critical design practice.

The basic idea is simple: 14 days, 30 students, 4 tutors and an exceptional location. The workshop will span 14 days and participants will be guided on a daily basis by the renowned tutors of
Graphic Design Arnhem. The week will alternate between closed-knit collaborations, group debates, individual critiques, and self-reflection. The workshop will culminate in a small exhibition of results on the last day of the workshop. Special guests and visiting artists/designers will participate in the final critique.

The Summer Sessions will offer the perfect opportunity to work closely with a highly engaged and talented group of international students and practicing designers who are interested in challenging the prevailing conventions of critical expression and exploring new branches of design research.

The 2013 edition of the Summer Sessions will be held at the Nida Art Colony, near the town of Nida on the Curonian Spit of Lithuania. The Nida Art Colony is an initiative of the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Situated 1 km from the center of Nida, the
Nida Art Colony is beautifully situated very close to the famous sand dunes of the Curonian Spit, which is a sandy and forested peninsula dividing the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. The Spit is included into the UNESCO World Heritage List as one of the most beautiful and unique cultural landscapes of Europe.

The tutors who will lead the Summer Sessions for the 2013 edition are:
Vinca Kruk (Metahaven)
Hendrik-Jan Grievink (Next Nature)
Thomas Castro (LUST)
